The musical opened on Broadway at the Imperial Theatre on October 12, 1950, where it ran for 644 performances. Call Me Madam received Tony Awards for Outstanding Musical Score to Irving Berlin. Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical to Ethel Merman, and Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical to Russell Nype.
