Description
This metal horizontal dial has a square base & fixed gnomon extending at an angle of about 51 degrees. The circular hour scale runs clockwise from III to XII to I to VIII and is subdivided into half-hours. There is a hole in each corner of the base, but no pedestal. A mark on the outer circle of the base reads: An.Do. 1652. A mark below this reads: *G*V*.
The identity of G.V. is unknown. London is at a latitude of 51 degrees.
