Psychological Test, Minimum Literacy Test
Psychological Test, Minimum Literacy Test
- Description
- In the early 1940s, those entering the United States Army took a “Minimum Literacy Test” to determine whether they could read at a basic level. The fill-in-the-blank test had twelve questions, the last five of which relate to information in a paragraph of text provided. A passing score was 9. This is a copy of form 5 of the test – there were twelve forms of it. The sheet is not filled out, has no author listed, and is undated. The Minimum Literacy Test was replaced by the Army Information Sheet in August 1942. For an example of the latter, see 1990.0034.018.
