Psychological Test, Non-Language Mental Tests
Psychological Test, Non-Language Mental Tests
- Description
- The first page of this document is a record sheet for a scale of Non-Language Mental Tests devised by Rudolf Pintner. It indicates that Pintner (1884-1942) is at Teachers College in New York. Pintner, born in England, received a Master of Arts from the University of Edinburgh in 1906 and a PhD. from Leipzig University in 1913. He came to the United States in 1912. After a year at Toledo University in Ohio, he went to Ohio State University, and then, from 1921 until his death, was at Teachers College. In 1918, during his time at Ohio State, Pintner published “Pintner’s Educational Survey and Non-Language Mental Tests.” The “Educational Survey” was a battery of eight educational tests with very short section. Different sections tested words, arithmetic, reading (two tests), sentence completion, grammar, geography, and history. The “Non-Language Mental Tests” were of six sorts that were thought to be measures of innate ability. These included movement imitation, easy learning (a digit-symbol test), hard learning (a more difficult digit-symbol test), drawing completion, reversed drawings, and picture completion. The document contains blank spaces for entering scores in each of these fourteen areas.
