Description
This white plaster model of a third order surface (Hesse's surface) has a square base on which three cake-slice shaped pieces are around a central four-sided pyramid. Three other pieces are mounted on metal rods between the cake-slice shaped pieces. These surround a smaller six-sided figure. A paper tag reads: 54. Another, incomplete, tag reads: Hesse'sche [...] [/] Verl. v. L. Brill [...].
The model is one in a series designed by Carl Rodenberg of the technical high school in Darmstadt that was first published in 1880.
This example of the model was exhibited at the Columbian Exposition, a world’s fair held in Chicago in 1893.
