- This curved black metal strip fits around model 144 (1985.0112.103), a model of a catenoid. A paper tag on it reads: [...] noid und Schaubenfl[...] v. L. Brill. S [...] Nr. XXVb.
- It is one of a series of models designed at the technical high school im Munich under the direction of Alerxander Brill. The series was first published in 1882.
- This example of the model was exhibited at the Columbian Exposition, a world’s fair held in Chicago in 1893.
