Syringe

Description:

Joseph J. Kleiner (1897-1972) was an American inventor who, in 1920, formed the Goodman-Kleiner company to develop diagnostic instruments for medical purposes. In 1935, Kleiner and others established Multifit, Inc., to import borosilicate glass syringes from Japan. In 1943, with war having put an end to that business. Kleiner joined Becton, Dickinson, bringing along the rights to the Multifit syringe with interchangeable parts. That product finally came to market in the early 1950s. The inscriptions on this example read “B-D / MULTIFIT / MADE IN U.S.A.” and “F / 4317.”
