Patent model for Charles M. Windship, "Breast Nipple or Lacteal or Artificial Breast," U.S. Patent 1,985 (Feb 18, 1841). A paper tag reads “A. S. & W. G. LEWIS / AGENTS FOR THE SALE OF / THE PATENT LACTEAL, / IMPROVED NURSING BOTTLE / NOS. 27 & 28 / SOUTH MARKET STREET, BOSTON.” Windship was a graduate of the Harvard Medical School who practiced medicine in Roxbury, Mass.
