Description:

Henry Norman Bethune (1890-1939) was a Canadian surgeon and social activist who designed an apparatus for treating patients with tuberculosis. One inscription on this example reads “DR. NORMAN BETHUNE’S / PNEUMO APPARATUS.” Another reads "GEO. P. PILLING & SON, CO. / PHILA."
