Box scale in a dark wood case with glass top, and scale reading in Grains and Grams. It came from Garfield & Co., a New Jersey firm that produced and packaged a popular headache remedy known as Seidlitz powder. Isidor Z. Garfield (1863-1951), the founder of the firm was a chemist with a degree from the University of Moscow who arrived in the United States in 1888.
