Sir Gilbert Scott

Description:

Anna Lea Merritt's etching of the British architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, based on a drawing by George Richmond, R.A., was published in the American Art Review in 1880. Smithsonian curator S. R. Koehler included her prints in his ground-breaking exhibitions of the works of women etchers in 1887 and 1888, and he acquired several of her prints for the National Museum's permanent collection.
