- Description
- Dual chamber pacemaker with an ovoid body, a lithium battery, and an “ELITE II / DDDR 7085 / SN 3V1001078H / MEDTRONIC / USA” inscription.
- Earl Bakken (1924-2018), a graduate student in electrical engineering, and his brother-in-law Palmer Hermundslie, an engineer, started Medtronic, a repair business focused on medical electronics, in 1949. The firm introduced their battery-powered pacemaker in 1957.
