This is the first volume of a new edition of a work originally published in two volumes under the title Tables for Statisticians and Biometricians and the editorship of Karl Pearson (first volume of the first edition published 1914, second volume 1931). The authors of the new edition were Egon Sharpe Pearson (1895-1980 - a son of Karl Pearson)) and Herman Otto Hartley (1912-1980), both then at University College London. The second volume would appear in 1972. By that time Hartley was on the faculty of Texas A & M and Pearson was living in Cambridge, England.
This example of the publication was owned by the German- American statistician, mathematician and computer pioneer Carl Hammer (1914-2004).
