- Since 1897, mathematicians have met regularly to report in international developments in their discipline. The International Congress of Mathematicians is now held every four years. Ion August 3-12, 1986, the meeting was in Berkeley, California. This book gives the program of the opening ceremony for the meeting. It was collected by Peggy Kidwell of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, who attended the meeting with her husband, Mark Kidwell.
