This round football button with black background and a yellow alligator depicted in the center of the button was created for supporters of the Vanderbilt football team. The button also has "Gator Bowl" and "Jacksonville, Florida" printed in yellow lettering on the front of the button while "Vanderbilt" is printed in black. The button is from the 1955 Gator Bowl (December 31, 1955) in which Vanderbilt defeated the eighth ranked Auburn Tigers 25-13. It is one of the seven bowl games Vanderbilt has ever been to (as of 2014). Vanderbilt would not win another bowl game until 2008. The Gator Bowl was televised by CBS, had an attendance of 32,174 and a payout of $70,000.
