Tankard with a crenellated and engraved, stepped flat-top lid and raised straight tapered sides with applied moldings around rim and base; body engraved on front "GJF" in conjoined foliate script. Cast cocoon thumbpiece attaches to five-knuckle hinge with round tab. Hollow, D-section, S-curve handle has a flat oval terminal. Struck twice on top of lid and once on bottom underside below centerpoint "W.K / B" in raised serif letters in a heart surround. Weight scratched on bottom underside "28-10". Centerpoint on inside and outside of lid. Overall gray-blue cast.
Oversized, slightly rounded and tapered cylindrical tankard with applied molding and zigzag band at rim and cut-card anthemions above a wide base molding with central zigzag band; flat bottom. Hollow, D-section, exaggerated S-curve handle tapers to a shield-shape terminal with applied cast putto mask; semicircular vent at top underside of handle and cross-shaped vent in terminal underside. Struck once below rim to left of handle "IB" in raised serif letters in a crowned shield. Centerpunch on bottom underside.
Hexagonal or six panel-sided candlestick with fixed, open rolled-edge drip pan on short vase-shaped candle cup or socket and an elongated vase-shaped stem on conforming, trumpet-shaped base with stepped edge. Base underside is struck incuse near edge of one panel "FORBES SILVER PLATE CO. USA" in sans serif letters above "92"; a circled "2" is marked in red pencil or crayon to left. "IIII" possibly lightly scratched on top of base. One of two candlesticks, DL*306994.0050-.0051.
Maker is Forbes Silver Co. (or Forbes Silver Plate Co.), of Meriden, CT; founded in 1894 as a division of Meriden Britannia Co. and, as such, became part of International Silver Co. in 1898. Only made plated goods; no sterling. Trademarks used by Insilco until circa 1935.
