Molded glass holiday or Christmas ornament. Mirrored red ball, hand-decorated as a Santa Claus face: white and black paper eyes, silver ball for nose, with foam mustache and red paper mouth. Top of ball is covered in mica and black sand or glitter. Cap is clear plastic, and reads: “WEST GERMANY/ D.G.M.a /5”. Cap was definitely made in Germany, ornament possibly as well. One of three (see DL*298065.373 and DL*298065.374).
Molded glass holiday or Christmas ornament, stepped cylindrical shape, open at top. Clear glass with red stripes at top and bottom, three white stripes in center, covered in mica/glitter. No cap, bent metal wire inserted for hanging. No mark. Similar fancy shapes were produced in America circa 1935-40.
Molded glass holiday or Christmas ornament. Ball, mirrored silver finish, tinted pink. Metal cap attached at top, with thin bent metal loop inserted. Cap is stamped “GERMANY” on top. In 1937, a tariff decision (no. 54387) reversed earlier decisions regarding the marking of ornaments with their country of origin, established in the 1890 MicKinley Tariff Act and the Smoot-Havley Tariff Act of 1930. The ornament itself now had to be marked with with its country of origin by stamping it into the cap or by way of tag or sticker.
