Rosebud and trompe l'oeil lace border design in black (printed and flocked) on semi-circular edge and scattered rose clusters and single blossoms extending upwards from border into field. "Housewife's Crying Towel" tea towel by Morris Setton; 1955. Linen; printed. Design of comic cartoon men and women depicted in household scenes with lively complaints/sayings in poetry and prose; in red, green, and orange with border of red coffee pots linked by steam rising from spouts; on a white ground. Sayings include "Dinner! Dinner! Dinner! Dinner! M'Lord is Awaiting!" and "He says that housework is child's play / and proves it to me on Mother's Day". Submitted by Morris Setton to the Library of Congress for copyright July 27 1955. Machine hemmed edges, selvage width (which is used as the length of the towel).
