Stamped on front of body "DECILITRE" in incuse serif letters; on outside of rim and face of handle with "1" next to clasped hands in an elongated hexagon; and along top and outside front of rim with 19 raised serif letters. Alsace or Rhineland Type I lidded and spouted baluster flagon or pichet with cupped rim, narrow bulging belly, and tall tapered base with flat bottom; entire body decorated with bands of thick and thin incised lines. Heart-shaped, slightly pouted lid with applied boss at top center. D- or ear-shaped strap handle with undulating floral vine decoration on its face has an angled and engraved thumb piece, rope- or cable-pattern extension, and flat lower terminal; five-knuckle hinge. Large circular rosette touch on inside bottom.

Galleried rim and molded base; one incised line around rim and two pairs around body. Tapered S-scroll handle with stepped thumbrest and scroll terminal; short, faceted strut. Circular touchmark of James Moyes of Edinburgh cast inside lid. Rim exterior stamped on front "GILL", partially overstruck by an oval stamp of a rooster and "68"; two Victorian verification marks, including a crowned "VR / 1856" verification mark for Edinburgh to right of handle. Four concentric circles inside bottom.

Lidless bulbous or bellied measure with a beaded, galleried rim and cast circular flared foot; pint size. Slight bead flanked by pairs of incised lines at shoulder. Tapered, S-scroll handle with arched and stepped thumbrest and lower short terminal attached at seam. Front of body stamped incuse "PINT" in incuse sans serif letters. Rim exterior has two verification marks, one crowned "GR" mark for Birmingham ("6) and one possibly for Renfrew County ("17"). Bottom interior with Y-in-triangle and X maker's mark and exterior with maker's name.
Gaskell & Chambers was established circa 1892 in Birmingham, England; manufacturer of metal bar and drink dispensing equipment (pewter, copper, etc.). They likely made these measures using molds originally owned by James Yates (working under his own name, 1860-1891). Although Gaskell & Chambers did not intend to deceive, their measures have been sold as or faked to be by Yates.

Rim exterior stamped to right of handle with two different 1/16 capacity marks and a "VR" mark with the shield of the City of London; to left of handle are two additional verification marks, one a crowned "VR" mark for Leamington (Spa, "530"). Touch on bottom interior of a crowned "X" and "4", both incuse.

Plain body has a galleried rim, flared base, and three pairs of concentric circles on bottom exterior. Tapered, S-scroll handle with short terminal; no strut or attachment. Lid top is stamped opposite handle "F / C D" in decorative serif letters, and at center with a partial incuse mark of two concentric circles containing what appears to be a griffin's head, facing left, with the letter "B" at left and an overstruck "H" at right.

Tapered, S-scroll handle has an arched and S-curved thumbrest; upper terminal attached at top of rim and short lower terminal near center of body. Rim interior stamped incuse with one verification mark "V R / C(?) W" beneath a crown; possible second mark on opposite side.

Front of body stamped "HALF GILL" in incuse serif letters. Rim exterior with at least thirteen marks, including "HALF GILL" in incuse sans serif letters, partially erased and overstruck with Victorian, Edwardian and George IV verification marks, one for Ashton-under-Lyne ("417").
