Likely manufactured to be used as a glass target ball for practice shooting, and then at some point the cord and hooks were added so that it could be used as a Christmas tree ornament, as with DL*298065.0280, a similar (marked) ornament. Molded glass holiday or Christmas ornament. Mirrored red ball, hand-decorated as a Santa Claus face: white and black paper eyes, silver ball for nose, with foam mustache and red paper mouth. Top of ball is covered in mica and black sand or glitter. Cap is clear plastic, and reads: “WEST GERMANY/ D.G.M.a /5”. Cap was definitely made in Germany, ornament possibly as well. One of three (see DL*298065.373 and DL*298065.374).

The ornament itself now had to be marked with with its country of origin by stamping it into the cap or by way of tag or sticker.
