An inscription on the cardboard box reads “DIMELOW / FACINGS / PATENTED JAN. 25, 1910, AUG. 19, 1913 / JOHNSON & LUND.” Thomas E. Dimelow (1872-1946) was born in England, moved to the United States at a young age, and obtained several dental patents. Johnson & Lund Co. was a dental supply firm in Philadelphia established in 1858 by two men from Sweden, Frederick N. Johnson and Oliver Lund.
