The Einhorn saccharometer, used for testing glucose in urine, was developed by Max Einhorn (1862-1953), a Jewish gastroenterologist who was born in Poland, emigrated to the United States as a young man, and was affiliated with the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York for many years.
