Wally Bishop’s Muggs McGinnis was introduced to newspaper readers in 1927. Muggs, an everyday American boy, was eventually joined by a brother, and in 1936 the strip was retitled Muggs and Skeeter. Over the course of its run the boys aged into their teens, with Bishop retiring the strip in 1974.
