New York Evening Journal promotional pin back button featuring the comic characters Annie Rooney and Zero.
Little Annie Rooney was a syndicated newspaper comic strip that ran from 1927-1966. Named after the popular music hall song “Little Annie Rooney” the strip was greatly inspired by the success of the Little Orphan Annie introduced in 1924. Like her predecessor, Annie Rooney was a spunky girl accompanied by a dog, in this case “Zero.”
