Packard’s improvement in “Cooking Utensils,” her only patented invention, included a new design for a frying pan using rounded recesses to keep eggs in place on the pan while cooking.
Long-handled frying pan with straight tapered sides and flat bottom. Hand-forged, straight, angled handle is triple riveted to pan side and bent above the rim; has chamfered edges and a clockwise rattail hanging loop. Handle face is stamped with an incuse "3" facing loop. No other marks.
Stamped sheet-steel frying pan with flared sides, flat bottom, and an integral, horizontal, molded, "cold" handle that is wrapped on top with tinned sheet metal to leave room for air inside; rounded end with reinforced hanging hole. Metal wrapping is stamped in relief "MADE IN / U.S.A." to left of "NATIONAL", in sans serif letters, followed by a flourish and a sideways "0".

Incuse cast-in marks on underside include the company's logo ("GRISWOLD" in block letters) at center with "CAST IRON SKILLET (arched)" and pan size "8" above, and "ERIE PA., U.S.A. (curved)" and pattern number "704 / N" below.
