Purple silk satin-lined interior with a white silk satin ribbon stretched diagonally across inside lid stamped in gold "J.H. & W.W. WILLIAMS, / MACON, GA."; bottom inside is fitted and trimmed with purple and white cording; ribbon straps attached inside corners prevent the lid from falling back. Two calling cards for "Miss Turner." and "Hugh V. Washington." are tucked behind ribbon. Original case for six "Arlington" pattern teaspoons, DL.60.1012A-F (stored separately).
Two-handled, covered, squat baluster-shape bowl with cast floral rim and sprig decoration on its body in imitation of bright-cut engraving; flat bottom. Slightly domed cover is topped by a ring of matching floral scrolls. C-curve handles have scrolled acanthus sprigs and conical struts. Bottom underside struck incuse with a horizontal-banded circular mark for "BRISTOL (arched) / PLATE CO. (across center in band) / U.S.A. / QUADRUPLE PLATE (curved)" in sans serif letters above "357". From a four-piece tea service, DL*66.0275-.0278.
Round-sided, rectangular case with an inset, flat, snap-closure, hinged lid featuring a diamond- or lozenge-shape reserve formed by bright-cut and wrigglework engraved pairs of leafy volutes and C scrolls. Plain, flat bottom. Tab at center front of lid. Matte silver interior. Outside front of lid collar struck incuse with Gorham trademark (outline of a right-facing lion passant, anchor and gothic or Old English "G"), "STERLING" in sans serif letters, "725" and date mark of a hat.
Double-sided, rectangular stamp box with two snap-closure lids hinged at opposite edges; one lid features a repousse genre scene or vignette of an unruly classroom and the other a stamped symmetrical design of foliate scrolls and five rosettes on a crosshatched ground. Slanted interior plate is divided into three equal sections on both sides. Single sword mark at one end of both lids. Box is stamped on one end "HOLLAND" in incuse sans serif letters at corner diagonal from three partial marks, a letter, shield and imperial crown; opposite end has single sword overstruck with key and is incised "318578" along one short edge.
Small, Aesthetic-style, mixed metal teapot with applied decoration of maple leaves and a spiraling maple key on opposite sides of its apple-shaped body, and a beetle below the stubby conical spout; fixed, tall bracket handle has a smaller maple key at top front corner. Inset circular cover is topped by a ribbed knop and small boss at edge. Flat bottom with four raised feet. Body perforated at spout. Bottom underside is fully marked with "TIFFANY & CO" struck incuse above pattern, order, and hammering and mounting design numbers.
Rectangular, souvenir stamp box commemorating the World's Columbian Exposition with "1492", "COLUMBUS" and "1892" raised in reserves on the box front and sides. Hinged lid features a curved shield engraved "JCT." in script surrounded by repousse chased scrollwork. Underside of flat bottom is engraved "Chicago." in script. Gold washed interior with wire spring holder connected to hinge. Struck incuse along edges of bottom underside, "HYMAN, BERG & CO.", a chimera crest, "PAT.PEND" and "STERLING", all in sans serif letters.
Small, rounded rectangular case with side-hinged lid featuring continuous, vertical, repousse fluting with leafy volutes around case and spiral, volute-ended fluting or lobes across lid and case bottom. Notched strike plate at bottom. Gold washed interior. Collar outside is struck incuse on one side (hinge at right) with Gorham trademark (right-facing lion passant in clipped-corner square, anchor in shield, and gothic or Old English "G" in clipped-corner square) and "STERLING" in serif letters, and on opposite side with date mark of a waxing crescent moon and "1075".
Slim, rectangular case with identical, polychrome painted and basse-taille enamel decoration on the snap-closure, hinged lid and bottom, consisting of an oval reserve framed by a translucent orange, clipped-corner, concave-sided rectangle and opaque dark blue triangles; reserve on lid features a pastoral scene of a man seated on the ground and admiring a half-clothed woman asleep at his feet, while that on bottom has an opaque white border and additional orange basse-taille enamel. Reverse-cyma tab at front center of lid. Gold washed interior. Outside front of box collar is struck "[G]ERMAN[Y]".
Dinner knife, part of a matching set (see 1986.0531.048 fork). Upturned steel blade with rounded tip. Blade, bolster, and tang are one piece of steel. Horn scales are riveted to the top and bottom of the tang with brass pins to form a tapered block handle with chamfered edges and blunt butt. Blade is discolored with some rust spots, horn is cracked and chipped around edges.

Maker is possibly the Sanderson Brothers, active ca 1829-[unknown] in Sheffield, England.
Slim, rectangular case with snap-closure, hinged lid repousse decorated with a horizontal oval, fasces-bordered vignette of a partially-clothed, reclining woman attended by two winged putti admiring herself in a mirror, the reserve supported by three putti holding floral garlands amidst scrollwork. Die-rolled bands of rosettes and fleur-de-lis and of grapevines and daisylike flowers form sides of lid and box. Plain, flat bottom. Tab at front center of lid. Gold washed interior. Underside is struck incuse near center "ITALY" in sans serif letters.
Rounded rectangular case with hinged lid featuring a polychrome enamel depicting a nude nymph or female sprite with small transparent wings and gauzy drapery over her midsection, sitting on a grassy bank with calm body of water to left as she looks at a yellow butterfly perched on her left forefinger; softly focused backdrop of blues, greens and purples. Concave back is engraved "GBB" in conjoined script. Pin closure with two tabs at opposite ends of lid and back. Gold washed interior has a removable retainer stamped "STERLING" on reverse. Bottom inside edge of back is struck incuse with Gorham trademark (lion passant facing right, anchor, and gothic or Old English "G"), "STERLING" in sans serif letters, "190" and date mark of a double hemisphere world map; inside lid and back are both stamped "191" next to hinge.
Two-pot vegetable steamer or cooker. The upper pot has a low-domed, molded cover with arched strap handle, two horizontal strap handles at sides, and is double-walled with a perforated liner, while the lower pot has a closed-end, conical handle reinforced where it is soldered to the pot, a horizontal assist or carrying handle on the opposite side, and a flat copper bottom. Both pots are wire-rimmed with vertical folded seams. Lower pot is stamped inside bottom in raised san serif letters "KREAMER" inside an oval, and has an attached, bead-bordered brass tag on one side that reads "WOODWARD & LOTHROP / WASHINGTON D.C."
Circular, high-shouldered holder with narrow rim and high, D- or ear-shaped strap handle ending in a scrolled thumb piece and terminals; repousse chased, naturalistic design of lotus flowers and leaves on calm water decorates body. Gilt-washed interior. Underside of applied flat bottom struck with two marks, a horizontal oval, intaglio kokoshnik or assay mark containing "84" next to a left-facing profile of a woman in headwrap, and a combined oval and rectangle with crowned double-headed eagle (imperial warrant) above "К. Фаберже" ("K. FABERGE") in raised Cyrillic letters.
Square, hinged lid, retail box or tin for "KENNEDY'S / CHAMPION / BISCUIT", sold by F. A. Kennedy Company, Cambridgeport, MA. A chromolithographed label covers the box front and features the product name in yellow-bordered, white letters against yellow ears of wheat in a black reserve bordered by red and white lines on a blue ground; small print along bottom states "MANUFACTURED BY THE NEW YORK BISCUIT CO." One-piece, flat lid has a wire-rolled rim, a scrolled clasp lock and two hinges. Three-piece box with an inward-folded rim has folded vertical seams inside two corners and a flat bottom with folded edge. Tinned interior.
Rectangular, hinged-lid shellwork box with serpentine-edged base ending in splayed feet. Lid and box front and sides are covered in gilt paper and encrusted with symmetrically arranged seashells bordered by iridescent periwinkles, including a cowrie at top center, sunrise tellin on front and abalones on sides; glossy black paper on back and bottom. Lid and box interior are lined with gold trellis- or diaper-patterned, vibrant pink paper; the lid fitted with a mirror and the box with two pincushions, both covered in matching pink silk satin, in its back corners. No marks.
