Oversized, elaborately decorated, partial-gilt tankard on four flattened-ball feet featuring a low-relief, repousse chased scene of the goddess Diana leading a boar and stag hunt that moves clockwise around the body. The cast figures of Diana and her hunting dog, supported by six leafy scrolls topped by doves, surmount the cover, while a lion rampant holding an empty cartouche is the thumbpiece; the lower terminal consists of scrolled acanthus leaves from which spring two coiled wires terminating in banded balls. Gold washed interior. Underside of flat bottom is struck with nine marks, four maker's pseudo hallmarks for Neresheimer and five import marks for Berthold Müller, Chester, 1901.
Relief-engraved, rectangular cigarette case with an inset, snap-closure, hinged lid, rounded long sides, and a built-in matchsafe with hinged strike plate at one flat end ; "КАВКАЗЪ" appears in large Cyrillic letters across the opposite end. Overall foliate scroll decoration features a medallion with eight pointed petals on lid, another with six pointed petals on bottom, and bands of intertwined leafy vines around one end and along sides; double-beaded borders. No marks.
Relief-decorated pitcher or ewer with inverted ovoid body and slender cylindrical neck rising to a trefoil-notched rim with elongated, almost flat pouring lip. Central band of decoration on body features three oval reserves containing allegorical representations of Faith (left of handle), Hope (right of handle) and Charity (front); other bands have strap- and scrollwork grounds with grotesque masks, female masks flanked by winged horses, and winged, bare-chested male and female figures. Cast, high-loop, S-curve handle has female torso, fruit, and mask on face. Removable circular foot screws onto threaded post attached to bottom of body and is secured with a square nut. No marks.
Dark olive green-japanned and gilt-banded, vertical rectangular, lidded container with brass label frame and curved pull screwed on at bottom front; "CATARIA" is painted in white inside frame. One-piece, plain-edged, square lid has hinge along at back. Two-piece box has a raised bottom; all four top edges are folded with a wire bead below. Tinned interior. Underside has metallic gold finish and is stamped incuse "PHENIX / HERB CAN / WHITALL TATUM COMPANY / NEW YORK PHILADELPHIA BOSTON / CHICAGO SAN FRANCISCO" in sans serif letters.
For apothecary use; cataria is commonly known as catnip. Maker is Whitall Tatum Company in Millville, NJ; in business, 1806-1938, but operated under this name from 1901 onwards. Whitall Tatum was a glass manufacturer best known for their prescription glassware - bottles, jars and vials made for druggists, chemists and perfumers.
Circular bowl with cast rim of intertwined wild rose branches, rounded sides that straighten at base, and boss bottom with flat gutter; no foot ring. Gilt-washed interior. Bottom underside struck incuse with two sets of marks facing inward, an "L" in crescent motif above "J.E.CALDWELL & Co" and "STERLING" above "433"; "16710" is scratched to left of L-and-crescent mark. One of two bowls, DL*61.0315A-B.
Probably made by Lebkuecher & Co. (Arthur E. Lebkuecher, Frank A. Lebkuecher, and Charles C. Wientge), of Newark, NJ, 1896-1918 (named Francis A. Lebkuecher & Co.,1912-1918) for retail by J.E. Caldwell & Co. of Philadelphia, PA; business founded in 1839 by James Emmot Caldwell but name and mark adopted 1848. Lebkuecher was acquired by The Eleder Co. in 1918, which became the Eleder-Hickok Co. in 1922, also located in Newark. Eleder-Hickok used the Lebkuecher mark as its own until it merged in the mid 1930s with the Matthews Co. to become Hickok-Matthews Co.; mark apparently discontinued at that time.
Raised, spiral-lobed, compressed globular, open sugar bowl with Chinoiserie decoration, including two cast and applied S-curve dragon handles and ten chased and repousse panels on body depicting bamboo, peonies, flowering prunus branches and dragons, all on a finely-textured ground; Oriental scenes on two side panels feature a scholar seated at a rock opposite another scholar seated at a table. Narrow cylindrical collar or opening. Slightly concave bottom is struck on underside with two marks, "TC" and a Chinese ideogram, both in rounded rectangles. Raised, spiral-lobed, pear-shaped cream pitcher with Chinoiserie decoration, including a cast and applied S-curve dragon handle and ten chased and repousse panels on body depicting bamboo, peonies, flowering prunus branches and dragons, all on a finely-textured ground; Oriental scenes on two side panels feature a man travelling by donkey opposite a scholar and servant fishing. Floral-decorated inset spout has flared lip. Slightly concave bottom is struck on underside with two marks, "TC" and a Chinese ideogram, both in rounded rectangles. Circular container with cast openwork, friction-fit, hinged lid featuring a square-rigged, three-masted ship under sail travelling left in center medallion bordered by flowering vines and C scrolls. Die-stamped band of men and women engaged in agricultural pursuits underlined by a dot-and-pointed-leaf pattern forms container sides. Gold washed interior. Flat bottom is unmarked. Container collar is struck at sides of hinge "Germany" in sans serif letters and "800" next to a combined crescent moon and imperial crown (Reichsmark) and a raised gothic or German Renaissance "N" in pointed shield.
Repousse chased, rectangular box with friction-fit, hinged lid featuring a vignette of peasants gambling in a tavern executed in high relief; bulging sides of box are covered in foliate scrollwork and flowers with perched birds at ends and oval reserves of horned cows grazing at front and back. Underside of flat bottom struck "HOLLAND" in raised serif letters to left of two pseudo-hallmarks, a right-facing lion passant above "2" in hexagon overstruck with key, and two partial marks, one with "N". Box collar has a gothic or Old English "L" in circle, while opposite end of lid is struck with a left-facing Minerva head with "E" in her cap.
Plunger style food or drink mixer, also butter churn. Mixing element comprised of two circular pieces of sheet metal, circular holes throughout, mounted on thick metal shaft, one on top of the other, shaft protrudes through hole in top of domed metal lid, black plastic handle at top. Accompanying glass jar, straight sides. Bottom of jar is embossed: "SILVER & CO/ PATD/APL 30-78/MAY 11-86/NEW YORK". Exterior of jar is embossed with measurements in ounces, pints, pounds and cups and mixing instructions: "POUND/FLOUR/SIFTED/EVEN FULL"; "1 POUND SUGAR MAKES 1 PINT"; "1 QUART/EVEN FULL"; "10 WHOLE EGGS MAKE 1 PINT"; "LIQUID/WEIGHTS"; "1 POUND BUTTER MAKES 1 PINT"; "8 T CUPS OR/4 COFFEE CUPS/EVEN FULL"; "GOOD MILK CONTAINS 10% CREAM".

Rectangular case with overall engine-turned decoration, top half has hinged lid and gold washed interior while bottom half contains a music box enclosed by a friction-fit cover. Lidded half is engraved on outside front of collar below tab "bey Seethaler und Sohn" and is struck with three hallmarks at inside center of lid and bottom, a six-pointed star motif, raised script initials, and a three-banded trapezoidal shape. Musical movement is stamped on underside of plate "A CHAPUIS & BARRAL / FECIT A GENEVE / 1812" and "3430", and at base of comb "C & B", all in incuse roman letters; "A Chapuis & Barral / fecit a Geneve 1812" is etched in script across drum. Inside right edge of lid and one end inside box cover are scratched "CP2603".
