Engraved inscription across shallow flat well for "Virginia M\c/Kenney. / from / Grandfather and Grandmother. / McKenney. / June 20\th/.. / 1900." No footring. Well underside struck incuse with Gorham trademark (right-facing lion passant, anchor, and gothic or Old English "G", without surrounds) above "STERLING" and "A111"; "1047-14" is scratched above the trademark. Two-pot vegetable steamer or cooker. The upper pot has a low-domed, molded cover with arched strap handle, two horizontal strap handles at sides, and is double-walled with a perforated liner, while the lower pot has a closed-end, conical handle reinforced where it is soldered to the pot, a horizontal assist or carrying handle on the opposite side, and a flat copper bottom. Both pots are wire-rimmed with vertical folded seams. Lower pot is stamped inside bottom in raised san serif letters "KREAMER" inside an oval, and has an attached, bead-bordered brass tag on one side that reads "WOODWARD & LOTHROP / WASHINGTON D.C."
Serpentine square ashtray with vertical rectangular matchbox holder mounted on a flared circular pedestal at center and concave cigarette holders at corners of its shallow, everted sides. Oval-and-double-bead molding along rims of holder and tray. Spring mechanism inside bottom of holder. Tray underside struck with three incuse marks, each at center of three sides, facing inward: trademark "L" hanging in a "C", "STERLING" in sans serif letters, and "1315".
Single-burner gas stove and heater featuring a removable, openwork, domed crown with scroll finial; a vertical, cylindrical shell or casing with a piercework band between two raised beads; and an open-scrollwork base on three, cabriole, strapwork-decorated legs with snake feet; the threaded connector for the supply valve extends out above the back foot. Hole for lighting the pilot light is to left of valve and has a screwed-on, scrolled-edge plaque with "N\o" and "88" in raised letters at its sides.

Arts-and-Crafts andiron with a rectangular-framed, pierced and chased screen depicting a single-masted, square-sailed boat, possibly medieval Anglo-Saxon in date, with one oarsman. Screen slides horizontally atop a cylindrical pedestal on a horizontal base ending in knopped feet. Incurved billet bar has a cast brass cover that extends past the log stop. Hexagonal steeples for finials on screen and legs, and for log stop. Multiple cast parts are screwed and bolted together. No marks. One of a pair, DL*387147A-B.
Molded celluloid balance toy, in the shape of a cat. Cream body with gray and black stripes down back and tail. Wears a blue collar around neck with blue tag. Remnants of pink at nose and mouth. Black eyes. Bottom paws are shaped into a small hook, as well as top paws, which would enable the toy to balance on the side of a bowl or glass. Possibly used for a christmas ornament as well. This ornament illustrates a character from "The Brownies", a series of publications by Canadian illustrator/author Palmer Cox (1840-1924). Published from the 1880s- early 1900s, Cox based the "Brownies" characters and stories on elements of English mythology and Scottish stories told to Cox by his grandmother. Aimed at children, "The Brownies" included illustrations with verse. The Kodak Brownie camera was named for the series.
Molded glass holiday or Christmas ornament in the shape of Santa Claus, holding an undecorated Christmas tree in his hands, resting on his left sholder. He wears a yellow-gold jacket and pants (legs cut off, bottom of ornament rounded) and yellow-gold cap, jacket and cap are both trimmed in matte white. Iridescent white face and molded long full beard, red mouth, green eyes. Metal cap attached at top of cap, with thin bent metal loop, green and white strings attached for hanging. No mark. Molds such as this were very popular, and this was a standard "Santa Claus" form. Such molds were used prior to 1940, but then reused after 1940, making it difficult to date exactly.
Holiday or Christmas ornament in the shape of a pig. Pressed cardboard, two halves put together to form each side of body, with hollow center. Floppy ears are two separate pieces adhered to head, tail is also a separate curled piece of cardboard attached to rear. The pig has a cardboard four-leafed clover in its mouth, and wears two cloth bags labelled "Dollar 5,000" and tied together with a red cord, draped on its back. The bags are stuffed with something solid. A small thin white string is looped in the pig's back for a hanger. The whole pig is in a red mesh bag tied shut with a cord. No mark.
Flat circular tray on three hoof feet having a raised and shaped edge of six scrolled brackets separated by single reeds and a conforming, applied cast rim punctuated by twelve equidistant shells at outer edge. Engraved at center inside well with an impaled coat of arms encircled by symmetrical scrollwork. Well underside struck with four hallmarks, placed side-by-side but facing opposite directions: the raised roman letter "b" in five-pointed shield; a footed and handled vessel between the script initials "IT" in rounded square; crowned leopard's head in five-pointed shield; and left-facing lion passant in rounded rectangle; scratched "17=13 (dwt?)" near edge opposite hallmarks.
