This study guide from The Fund-Raising School was used by fundraising expert Eugene Tempel in September 1980 and includes his handwritten notes. The guide contains lessons for professional fundraisers.
The Fund Raising School was established by Hank and Dottie Rosso in San Francisco in 1974. Hank Rosso was a nationally-recognized fundraiser and a leader in the development of the profession. Tempel was the founding dean of the Center for Philanthropy, established in at Indiana University in 1987. He has said that he considers the study guide “the foundation of [his] relationship with Hank Rosso and the kernel of the idea for creating the Center on Philanthropy and the Lilly School of Philanthropy.” In 1987, the Fund Raising School was transferred to Indiana University as part of the creation of the Center on Philanthropy. In 2012, the center was elevated to a school and is now known as the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
