Well-traveled infielder Don Zimmer played Major League Baseball for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers (1954-1959,) Chicago Cubs (1960-1961,) New York Mets (1962,) Cincinnati Reds (1962,) Los Angeles Dodgers (1963,) and Washington Senators (1963-1965.). A two-time All-Star, Zimmer compiled a lifetime .235 batting average, with 91 home runs and 352 runs batted in. In 1966 he a season in Japan with the Toei Flyers.
After retirement, Zimmer went on to manage the San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs. He also served as Coach for a number of Major League teams, including the New York Yankees, with whom he won two World Series rings.
