Art deco style electric waffle iron. Sheet metal, chrome-plated, with stained wood. Bent sheet metal stand, curved front and back, with stained wood sides. Arched, flat metal handles, rectangular, attached to wooden sides. Handles have a series of lines engraved across middle for decoration. Electrical components encased in rectangular bent sheet metal body, curved corners, attached on top of stand. Cord attaches to right side. Two square waffle irons on top of body, curved corners, with rectangular wooden drop handles in front. The top of each iron lid is engraved with a decorative line motif. Bottom of stand is engraved: “Westinghouse/MANSFIELD, OHIO/MADE IN U.S.A./VOLTS 110-120 WATTS 800 CATL. NO. WFT-4 SERIAL NO. 2-40”
Power cord detaches, olive green and white fabric, molded plastic plugs, brown, two-pronged, silver coil at one end. Two red paper “Underwriters Laboratories” tags attached.
Model # WFT-4 was manufactured in the Late 1930s through the early 1940s.
Maker is Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company, originally formed in 1886 as the Westinghouse Electric Company. Scovill Manufacturing purchased Westinghouse’s appliance division in the 1970s, and then sold the division to White Consolidated Industries, which continues to produce appliances under the name White-Westinghouse.
