As a public health precaution due to COVID-19, all Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo are temporarily closed. We are not announcing a reopening date at this time and will provide updates on our website and social media.

Things to do at Home

Most of the museum’s exhibitions are also online, and many of them have special activities to do at home that you can’t find in the museum.

Things to do in the Museum

Visit our hands-on spaces on the first floor west wing: Object Project, Wegmans Wonderplace (ages 0-6), and Spark!Lab (ages 6-12) - note that both Wonderplace and Spark!Lab are closed on Tuesdays. See the The Star-Spangled Banner exhibition and its interactive table, check out historical modes of transportation in America on the Move, and look for hands-on activity carts throughout the museum.
