As the cataloging project moved forward, curators, designers, educators, and project managers worked feverishly behind the scenes on plans for a more permanent exhibition. By summer, visitors could watch the kitchen being installed in the gallery, in preparation for the August 2002 opening of Bon Appétit! Julia Child's Kitchen at the Smithsonian.
