Uniformed Women in the Great War

Uniformed Women in the Great War

Closed April 28, 2019

This display explored the active and largely overlooked role played by women throughout World War I, both as a part of the preparedness effort before 1917 and afterwards as uniformed members of both the U.S. military and civilian voluntary organizations. In a larger historical context, the exhibit highlighted the role of uniformed women in the war as a precursor to the passage of the woman suffrage amendment in 1920.
