Classrooms, particularly at the university and in the military, had long been a place for trying out new ways of learning. After the launch of Sputnik, and especially after federal funds were made available for audiovisual aids, new technologies were used in many more American schools. Both those developing new curricula and those who sold the devices advocated their use. Classroom responses were mixed.
