Dr. Tony C. Perry is Curator of Environmental History and specializes in African American as well as early American history. His forthcoming book focuses on enslaved people’s relationship to the environment and how they leveraged this relationship to reckon with their enslavement. He’s also working on a digital archival project that documents the place of water in Black life from the period of slavery to the present. Anchored in these projects are broader research interests that include histories of labor, energy, and industry.
