Connections between the history of philanthropy, current trends, and philanthropic horizons are made and underscore the day’s examination of the collaborative power of giving in all forms and at all levels. Speakers include philanthropists Warren Buffett, Bill and Melinda Gates, David Rockefeller Jr., and David M. Rubenstein; historian Olivier Zunz; journalists Nina Easton, Nicholas D. Kristof, and Sheryl WuDunn; and social innovators Henry Timms and Premal Shah. In addition, Carla Hayden, Jamie McDonald, Diana Morris, and other members of Baltimore’s nonprofit community share stories about the many ways that Baltimoreans give their time, expertise, and resources to respond to the opportunities and crises its citizens face.
