The new East-River Bridge.

The Commission for the new East River Bridge held an executive meeting yesterday afternoon chaired by President Andrew D. Baird of 49 Chambers St. Mayor Strong also attended, albeit only for a few minutes since the gout in his foot bothered him too much. Later on Secretary Thurber stated the Finance Committee reported that it had conferred for considerable time with the financial officers of both cities. The Chief Engineer reported that he had started experimental drillings on both side of the river edges. [hhv]
