Steinway will not close

The report on the supposed closing of the Steinway Piano factory in Astoria, which was reported in the entire NY press the evening before last, has turned out to be without foundation. It seems it was the act of mean spirited person who wanted to frighten the Steinway workers and in order to make the matter sound really true a placard had been fastened to the factory doors. Steinway himself told a reporter yesterday: "I intend to work full time work, as before and with a full complement of workers; none of my workers will be dismissed, neither in my factory in New York nor Astoria. How the rumor got started, which I wish to end, I cannot comprehend."
