Arion Concert. - The new conductor Julius Lorenz makes his debut. –
What the English press says.-

In yesterday's Arion concert the public mood was festive and anticipatory. They were to meet the new conductor the club had brought over from Glogau, Selicia. After the Hegar composition was presented the applause had noticeably increased. Mr. Richard Katzenmayer welcomed the new slightly nervous conductor warmly and after five numbers presented him to loud applause with a flower bouquet.

Mr. Julius Lorenz appears energetic and to have thorough musical education. It has to be seen if Mr. Lorenz is up to the demanding task the Arion seems to put on its conductor. But it is noticeable that Mr. Lorenz has preserved the discipline and technical performance capabilities of his singers. They carefully observed the intensity of the shading and sang very clearly. In total Mr. Lorenz seems to have made a good impression for the concert can be deemed a success.

The English Tribune said:
"Julius Lorenz definitely made a good impression of the club members and it goes without question that he is a sincere and competent musician."

The World wrote: "Mr. Lorenz is a 'magnetic' conductor. He keeps the beat with his arms, head and body and with much mimic. Judging by the taste of the program he had selected and the manner in which he conducted the orchestra in an artistic manner the club seems to have an appropriate successor to Mr. Frank van der Stucken."

The New Yorker Herald: "Mr. Lorenz conducts the orchestra and chorus in the same capable manner. His appearance is manly and gracious."
