City of New York. For the German Hospital. –The big Fair at the American Institute begins tomorrow. – The Program. – The Committees. – More rich donations received. –

In just a short time the Fair for the Best of the German Hospital will take place. Nothing has been spared to make it the most original 'Fair' ever held here or even in the US. Opening of the Fair will take place at 8 o'clock tomorrow evening.

After a speech by Mr. Carl Schurz, Mayor Hugh J. Grant will formally open the Fair where upon the orchestra will play the Fest march composed by Mr. Brandeis for this occasion in memory of Mrs. Anna Ottendorfer. The Fair will offer something for every taste: a Marionette Theater, a racing track, marble shooting, Egyptian stick throwing, artists will produce crayon portraits, Japanese handy men of all types, silk handkerchiefs made to order to see the Singer sewing machines at work. A boy will demonstrate his hammering skills; the Arion will display its fish tank; a Sage; the gypsy tent; Wheels of Fortune; Rebecca at the Well and not to be forgotten, the Post Office. A special mention is reserved to Mr. Edison's phonograph, demonstrated by Mr. Edison himself. Every day there will also be target practice under the watchful eye of Captain John J. Diehl and the Independent Shooting Club. And of course you can vote for and subscribe to gifts. An elegant Tea palace, a beautiful first class Viennese Coffee House and Restaurant, a picture gallery, soda-water fountain; Huyler's Coffee Kitchen and a summer garden, which is expensive to reproduce but will portrait scenes from the old country. All these will add to the attraction of the Fair.

The Fair will be open daily until February 26 from 3 until 11 pm. And every afternoon and evening Mr. Bernstein and Leipold will present concerts, each with a carefully selected program. During one of those days a special concert under the direction of Mr. William Steinway will be given; on another day an afternoon concert specifically for the little ones. Washington's Birthday will be celebrated at the Fair with patriotic speeches by renowned citizens and a visit by a local regiment. At every ticket sales office a Fair album can be purchased in either English or German, produced with the typographic process of Mr. F. A. Ringler & Co. There will be original contributions of known writers in facsimile as well as illustrations by American artists. And Dr. Jacobi's History of the German Hospital can be bought at all booths.

Executive Committee member, among others, are Carl Schurz and William Steinway.
