Braunschweig, Sept. 28th 1888.

Sept. 28th friday,

draw up new codicill for C. F. Theodor St. write letters, in evg at Reidemeisters, Henry Ziegler having arrived from Hamburg at noon.

Alfred Roos calls gave him 100 Marks

Sept. 29th sat.

At 11.35 A.M. start for Seesen, gave Klingsbühl at depot 20 Marks, recd cable last night that Dem. Com. wants $500 of me as elector, I cable this morning to pay the amount. Arrive at Seesen 1.10 P.M. Stop at Rorigs get letter from wife, In evg at Landwehrverein, make speech Dr. Jahn is a splendid chairman & fellow Retire at 11 P.M. having a slight cold, donate 100 Mks

Sept. 30. Sunday.

Rain, feel gout on my left ancle, which fortunately under my medicine disappears during the day, take walk to depot after having written a very long letter to Papa Ranft and a few lines to wife. Turnerfest at Seesen which I visit and let the city children ride twice on the carousal. Theodor yesterday gave me the Golden Watch of King Louis II of Bavaria which bought at Munich. In ev’g lunch at Rudolf Lohmann’s, then with Carl Reinecke to the Society “Harmonie” at Rathskeller. Gemischter Chor there I put up a couple of blls of beer, and bowl of punch for the ladies. They sing quite well I sing for them bring a toast make a speech play for them to dance, drank only Soda Water home to Hotel at 1 AM

Oct. 1st Monday.

Make several visits, give M. Bass 50 Mks at 1.13. start for Cologne, it rains and is cold, arrive at Hotel du Nord after 10 P.M. from Deutz where the train stopped. Find a lot of letters to read. Rest fairly well
