New York + Astoria, Aug. 20th 1889.

Aug 20th Tuesd.

Lovely day, at 3 P.M. with Oswald Ottendorfer in his cab to Governors Room, City Hall, see Jay Gould, Belmont and many other notabilities, meeting adjourned and Executive Committee appointed. Take supper at L.K. Go to Arion also about Music festival, in Coupè to Astoria Ferry get 11¼ P.M. boat, to Mansion midnight

Aug 21st Wed.

Remain all day at Mansion, working, at 2.30 P.M. meet A. L. Soulard at Grand Pier, drive him all over Bowery Bay Beach, he is highly pleased with it. Work again in evening. Little Theodore has a sofre knee

Aug 22d Thursd.

Very busy all day, am at Bk Metrop. in afternoon work til late in eve’g, Oscar Steins being sick, Henry Ziegler at Morristown with ailing lungs, my stenographer on his vacation I have an awful time of it with working late into every night. Emma A. Leonhardt + Phil. Kompff to Europe steamer Augusta Victoria

Aug 23d friday.

Mrs. Emma Kessler calls wants to talk spiritualism to me. Get up letters and papers for Johanna Candidus European trip tomorrow. Work at Mansion til late at night

Aug 24. Sat.

It rained during night and morning, but cleares up towards noon. Reached St. Hall this morning in just 48 Minutes from Mansion, by buggy to Hunters Point and cab from 34th str. Ferry. Henry Cassebeer jr. and Johanne Candidus sail by Steamer Ems to Europe at 3 P.M. John F. Petri shows me letters from his Granddaughter. Rosalie Clarke who is at Gothenburg Sweden with the family v. Sandels Work at Mansion, take warm bath, poor little Theodor has a sore knee, a bile forming itself which is being poulticed constantly, he remained in bed all day. Our business fairly good, shipd 54 pianos during the week ended today
