New York, Decbr 24th 1889.

   

for $2500. + $100. for her birthday, Novbr 15th and give her now $100. and various other nice things.  Give George $50. Frl. Bernkopf $25. and every girl in the house $10 each while wife gives each of them other presents. My boys overjoyed & remain up until 9½ P.M. Even our little girl Maud seems to enjoy the lighted up Christmas tree, cabled to Holwede this morning only to cable total assets and net profits of Hamburg business up. I remain up til 11 P.M. writing to Ranfts Dresden, in answer to Papa Ranfts letter recd at 8P.M. and writing letters to Steinway & Sons offering Steinway’s Pianofabrik for sale to them

Mild beautiful sunny spring day, work all forenoon and afternoon at Store with open windows, in forenoon with Chas, Fritz St + Nahum Stetson. Receive the following CableGram’ “Hamburg 25 Decbr William Steinway private Steinway Hall New York. Total assets neseundred fortifive thousand eight hundred twenty seven marks 93 Pfennigs, net profits for eleven months from October 1st 88 to August thirty first 89. hundred twenty two thousand seventy two marks 31 Pfennigs. Your Capital Guthaben seven hundred seventy five thousand sevenhundred ninety two Marks 6 Pfennigs, Holwede”.
Also received statement from Read + Sons, London showing that our net prifits for November last reached the unprecedented figure of £1662.4.3 gross profits and £1055.8.10 net profits though £301.8.4 were paid during that months for Concert tour.
