NewYork, February 25th 1894.

 

and artists. I can move my legs sideways pretty well, and gradually walk better without crutch or cane. Take dinner in dining room. All five children present. At 6 PM. drive to Fritz T. Sts house No 15 E. 53d str. for supper. Wm. Mertens, Cassebeers, Stetson Chas H. St. there. After supper play Skat with Chas. H. St. Mertens & Henry A. Cassebeer jr. and win 31 Cents

Febr 26th Mond.

Dark day and Rainstorm, remain home, am enabled to do a great of work. In afternoon rainstorm turns into a furious snowstorm. Sheriff Clancy died yesterday. Mr. Corbins "Kelly"visits me, also Louis Windmüller, who wants to appear before the Chamber of Commerce on Rapid Transit

Febr 27th Tuesd.

No Rapid Transit Meeting, but I drove down to Surrogates Office signed bond for $80.000. for Henry Ziegler as Administrator of Chas. Ziegler. Mr. Chas. H. Steinway signed same bond. In evg drive to L.K. remain til 11½ P.M. there being a little festival from Maskenkränzchen. I make a brief address. Willie to school

Very busy all day at St. Hall have a number of people come to see me, Bill for greater NewYork passes the Senate. Mrs. + Miss Haas call on me

March 1st Thursd.

Meeting on Rapid Transit Chamber of Commerce favor Mayor Hewitts plan viz. NY City building and owning its own Rapid Transit facilities Governor Flower signed bill creating Greater NewYork. In ev'g drive to Ottendorfer, play Skat with him, Loeser and May, lose 30 Cents. In afternoon R. T. McCabe calls we discuss R.R. Matters and Bridge across Blackwells Island, but do not touch upon the bond affair

March 2d frid.

Am again called upon by numerous people, E. Schmidt, J. Franko J. F. Dickson, also Kearney sees me on my Mortgage foreclosure agt Gleason offering to pay me the entire amount of money principal and interest Stetson, H. Ziegler & I have the gout, my son George strained foot and tore two tendons, Chas. H. St. has the Grippe so that we +c are quite a decrepit set of people. Sent satisfaction pieces of eight Mortgages on property belonging to the Astoria Homestead Company

March 3d sat.

Very busy. Doscher visits me looks up the satisfaction pieces in the A. H. Grote and A. J. Kapp case. When home 5-6.30. P.M. Mrs. McCabe,
