Cold clear day, Metzerott in town My cold a little better, I lunch at Tafelrunde write to Theo. to let us know if we should make a room  in Phila Give Klamroth Advt for Phila Centl German Pamphlet, back outside Cover $125 I continue to feel excessively downhearted, and am gradually sinking into a state of utter hopelessness, my heart torn to pieces by conflicts between duty and pity. My cold still continues badly. With Reck at Supper, play 66 with him win $1.50. Wife is very nervous, suffering mental distress, goes to bed early

Cold day. Children quite well, Paula rapidly getting over her Chickenpox. Georgies Stye on his eye has entirely disappeared. Interview with Kohler at Bk of the Metropolis, propose Chattel Mortgage to him as security for the Bank which he accepts. In eve'g wife at Dachauers, Albert and I at Kreischers, play Muggins with Papa Kreischer, I call at Dachauers for wife afterwards My cold gradually subsiding

Mild day. Lunch down town at Tafelrunde. Business very quiet. At 3 P.M. Cable dispatch from Theodor "Sende Morgen fertige Abwehr Grand Diskantboden dicker nicht abspitzen" Steinway. Subscribed $100 to H. L. Stuart for the benefit of Watsons family. Mapleson calls. Reck and Albert & the two boys C. & H St. we play Skat til 12½ AM I lose 4 Cents
