New York, April 9th 1884.

April 9th Wed.

Rainstorm, have hair cut & beard trimmed. At 3½ P.M. to Theo. meet Wm. Baumgarten there, afterwards get up first draft of his will which is long and complicated, at 8 P.M. with him to Belvidere house, he to see Winkelmann, I to store to work til late

April 10th Thursd.

fine weather, am down town see Steele on Gleason matter lunch at Wiehls, get photographed again at Kurtz with electricity. In eve'g at Joseffy Concert afterwards with family, Theo. Winkelmanns, Thomas Toussaints at U. S. Hotel taking supper +c loan Striebeck $2300/100

April 11th friday.

Lovely day, bought of A. Schierenbeck through J. F. Poggenburg a $100. bond for my little son Theodore of Liederkranz Mortgage. Listen to Rehearsal of Wagner festival in forenoon. In afternoon get up Theodores will, which is very voluminous, At 5 take Walk up Broadway. Theo. to Astoria with Winkelmann With wife to L.K. stay there til 11½ PM.

April 12th sat.

Lovely day, At 6 A.M. telegram that steamer Lessing will arrive at 8 A.M. Wife, George and Paula go to Hoboken to receive him He arrives at Steinway Hall 9½ A.M. I telegraph "Ranft Gellert strasse Dresden" Papa arrived all well Steinway" Theo. lunches with us, I remain home all afternoon bringing Theodores will into shape. Papa Ranft stops at our house. In eve'g I again work at the Store, Theo. meets me, but having accidentally omitted to take the Manuscript with me, we cannot work at the will. I return home at 9½ P.M. RdRt jr. & wife are there and we chat for a while pleasantly
