New York, March 22d 1885.

March 22d Sunday.

Still excessively cold, steam coil in my cellar burst, I have slight touch in left foot, take salicylic powders. I work all day in store, and continue working in eveg home til 10½ PM Sleep splendidly

Mar 23d Monday.

Cold. Very busy. touch gone, I am at Cotterills office execute of the E. R. Gas Light Co with N. Y. + N.J. Job [tear in page cuts off part of word] Gas Light Co. At 4 P.M. Dr. Langmann + Dr. chloroform and operate little Theodore, taking an ugly thickening from his right hand. He gets very nicely over the operation. Wife Geo. + Paula at Thalia Theatre to Sonnenthal, I work in store til 11 P.M. Bernetta Concert at St. Hall, she is a fizzle however. drink bottle of Cider + eat oysters at U. Sq. Hotel

March 24th Tuesday.

Beautiful day + excessively busy. Litle Theodor is quite bright, although his right hand is bandaged and his left arm inflamed from the vaccination. I am excessively busy all day, in afternoon we hold the Meetings of the Broadway & Bowery Bay, Astoria & Hunters Point, Jackson & Steinway Ave, and Steinway & Hunters Point R.R. Co. H. M. Thompson of Albany also calls on me. In eve'g work at store, then to L.K. Henry W. T. Steinway & H. A. Cassebeer, jr. leave this eve'g for the South

March 25th Wed.

Lovely day. Both children well. At noon to Hunters Point, lunch at Millers, in buggy with Kittle to Gas Works, then through German Settlement to R.R. depot, order various things our car shed nearly ready for occupancy. Menzl tells me that Hardner Hoffmann is a thief At 5 P.M. with Campbell in buggy to Hunter point Home at 6½ P.M. At store 7½ P.M. advance settlement with Gleason who is there. Drink Cider
