Papers full of Steinway strike + application of pianomakers Union to Central labor Union for aid. Miß Kleber and Miß Kessler calls, the latter wants an Upright piano, the former tells me about her cure. In ev'g with George + Mr. + Mrs. Lang to Opera "Wilhelm Tell" Tenor Mierowslaskinz is splendid. At Mühlbachs afterwards, oysters & beer. Meet Liedersdorf of Milwaukee. Park Theatre burned. I walk up 4th Ave. see fire. |

Fog. Splendid article in Herald. Card in Volkszeitung of Astoria Men, calling John Ihne a traitor. Very busy all day. At 6 P.M. to new L.K. supper there, tell Paur his duties, at 8½ P.M. Theodor Thomas takes the baton, and Waldmorgen and Hunnenschlacht are being rehearsed, all singers being delighted. Preside at Business meeting. The whole Programme for the season, set up by myself is adopted. Home at 12½ AM | |

Still remarkably warm sultry weather. Volkszeitung article attempting to ridicule our Christmas trade. Mrs. M. White of Buffalo sends her note made by Regina Roos for $1000. dated May 1st 1880. for which I send her the money. Mrs. Emily Dodge (nèe Flach) calls, wishes to sing in public in New York In eve'g at Pagenstechers, sing Quartetts very nicely | |

Beautiful warm day, busy all day, at 4½ P.M. to factory consult with boys about Emil Gabler + the strike, supper at Zieglers. In L.K. new Hall, preside at Building Com. Vorstand & Trustee session. Home at 12½ AM | |

getting cold, papers give fight of Albert Weber with a coach driver. Call on W. L. Findley, 120 Bdway, Atty to Fire departmt about suit against us to enforce Iron shutters on our factory. Eat at Wiehls, buy 3 safes of Marvin & Co, second hand, for $200. They are of Lillies make. At L.K. in eveg, take Mißes Kleber + Kessler around building, Com. Sessions, home at 12 | |
