Haas telephones that steamer Eider touched Lizard at 6 A.M. and Southampton at 3 P.M. To Taxation Office, postpone til tomorrow Sup. Hoffmann, Schwab & Haas, lunch at Hollenders, call at Cotterills, look over printed Cemtery Contract, News of battle between Russians and Afgans, the latter beaten, Work in Store eveg John C. & Harry Freund arrested, and held in $5.000 bail each for libel, on suit of Conover Brothers, work at Store in eveg

Make my taxation return for St + Sons at tax Office. Receive from Goepel Theodors last lincrusta patent dated April 7th 1885 In eve'g til 8 P.M. working at Store, then to L.K. via 3d Ave horse cars.

April 11th sat.

The freunds said to have obtained bail late last night. At 1 P.M. via Hunters Point to Steinway in one of my cars, Menzl tells me of the complete fizzle of the socialist Meeting at Stahls last Tuesday. Am at Phil. Soc. Concert last night with Fritz St + Helene Cassebeer, take latter home, Joseffy plays splendidly. It snows & rains. I ordered Menzel to allow beer into factory between 12-1 P.M. and from 2-4 P.M. Sent to Evarts & Beaman, Chickerings lawyer, memorandum of our manufacture of graduating pedal and list of witnesses, wife telegraphs "Arrived safe & well" from Bremerhaven
